The group commenced the second year of the program in February. This training block saw them back at Anglesea, Victoria where is all begun in 2013. A great week long of training with morning fitness sessions, the continuation of their Certificate IV in Community Development and a 10km walk!
Participants also learnt of a community project that they will implement while in Papua New Guinea. They will not only get the opportunity to practice leadership while on the trek but build a classroom for an orphanage in Launumu near the village of Efogi!
But before the 22 young leaders and their mentors even get to Kokoda they are responsible as part of their leadership training for raising $4,000 each so that they can participate in this important leadership challenge.
The fundraising campaign will end on 31st March 2014. A website has been developed for the public to make donations www.iylp2014.com.au.
